Lenses
80% of consumers know the sun can damage their skin. Less than 10% know it can damage their eyes.
Beyond the controlled environment of your exam room, patients face a world of extreme light conditions that can compromise vision quality and vision health. Transitions lenses have been designed to perform like premium clear lenses indoors and outdoors. When exposed to ultraviolet light, they rapidly darken, conveniently providing visual comfort, glare reduction and 100% blockage of UVA and UVB rays*.
100% of your patients can benefit by wearing Transitions lenses
Transitions lenses are ideal everyday eyewear and the single-most convenient way to protect eyes for long-term healthy sight and wellness. That has helped to make them the #1- ECP recommended photochromic lenses in the world. Thanks to advanced technology, Transitions lenses deliver unparalleled performance in the widest range of lens materials and designs, including:
Standard and higher index materials
Shatter-resistant polycarbonate material
Single vision, bifocals, trifocals, and progressive designs
*UV blockage determined by global standard ISO 8980-3.
Understanding Transitions Technology
What makes Transitions lenses work?
Simply put, the performance of Transitions lenses centers around the application of special photochromic dyes to the lens. Molecules that make up that dye appear colorless in the absence of ultraviolet light. However, when exposed to invisible UV light outdoors, the molecules change shape and appear as a color tint. Remove the lens from UV light and molecules quickly revert to their colorless state, appearing and performing like clear lenses.
How do we achieve our renowned lens performance? It's a delicate balance of just the right lens material, patented photochromic dye systems and proprietary manufacturing processes.
Advanced Lens Material
A solid foundation is critical to any successful endeavor. Transitions Optical works hand in hand with top lens manufacturers to formulate lens material foundations, each optimized for photochromic speed, darkness, indoor clarity and service life. This collaboration also ensures excellent processing attributes, coatings compatibility, and ultimate performance quality. The lens material provides a versatile platform that assures Transitions lenses are available for virtually any frame and in nearly every design and material imaginable.
Pioneering Photochromic Dyes
Photochromic dyes enable a lens to change from clear to dark in the presence of UV light. Transitions Optical's exclusive dye packages are formulated to provide true, neutral, predictable and consistent color in their activated states and clarity in their inactivated state. The latest generation of dyes delivers the best speed, fatigue resistance, high-temperature performance and all-around photochromic performance available anywhere. And we should know; Transitions Optical is the acknowledged global leader in photochromic dyes and boasts the only US and European Industrial Representatives to the International Photochromic Scientific Organization.
Proprietary Manufacturing Technologies
The manufacturing process combines the special lens materials and patented dyes using Transitions Optical's proprietary surface technologies. Applying these technologies enables superior indoor clarity and consistent coloration in every Transitions lens, regardless of prescription, material, or design.
Transitions Optical manufactures Transitions lenses in the following locations:
United States (Pinellas Park, FL)
Ireland (Tuam)
Brazil (Sumare)
Thailand (Chonburi)
The Philippines (Laguna)
Each facility meets internationally-recognized standards for manufacturing excellence, including ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 for quality and environmental management, respectively.
